A lucky shopper at a Houston County convivence retailer matched 4 out of five white balls and the purple Powerball through a current Saturday drawing, profitable $50,000.
Hunter Coakley received his big prize following acquiring a lottery ticket at Discount Tobacco and Beer in Erin. He claimed his prize on Jan. 26.
The drawing marked the seventh of January. Since Jan. 2, Powerball tickets well worth $50,000 or extra have been marketed in Chattanooga, Franklin, Germantown, La Vergne, Kingsport, Knoxville, Nashville, Pulaski, Rockvale, Shelbyville and Vonore.
Houston County has a historical past of huge lottery winners.
- In 2015, Ben Pendergrass received $2 million when his lottery ticket matched all but the Powerball variety. The matches equaled a $1 million prize, but because he selected Powerball’s “Power Play” choice, his winnings doubled.
- In 2017, a $2 million Powerball ticket was offered at Unexpected Services on West Main Road.
